What is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of movement that focuses on maintaining proper alignment of the spine and pelvis by moving from the center, or core, of the body outward.  The exercises are low impact and can be adapted for any body's challenges or injuries.  Pilates exercises were originally performed on a mat without the use of props or equipment.  As it evolved, Pilates exercises were developed for a variety of different apparatus.
